WRT Audi driver Laurens Vanthoor claiming pole position for the qualifying race at Misano for the opening round of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint cup.
The Belgium managed to finish second on the timing sheets in the third part of qualifying, however he was promoted to pole position after ISR Audi driver Franck Perera lost his best time due to not respecting track limits.

Son of the seven-time Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher, Mick was brought home the win in his first race in the Italian Formula 4 at Misano. Schumacher had had previously spent 2015 competing in the German F4 championship easily topped his qualifying group on Friday at a wet Misano and lined up second on the grid for the first race of the season
It was the beginning of the World Touring Car Championship 2016 as well as the FIA Formula Three Championship, who were visiting the Paul Ricard track for the first time. It was business as usual for Jose-Maria Lopez who walks away from the opening round leading the championship. The Formula Three was more interesting with plenty of action and three different winners.
The Indian Teel Parth Ghorthade will be making his sportscar debut this year at the European Le Man Series with Algarve Pro Racing. He will be driving alongside Michael Munemaan, Sir Chris Hoy and Andrea Pizzitola
The teen makes his switch to sportscar racing having only previously driven single seaters in his career. Ghorpade will be driving with Munemann for the whole season with Hoy joining them for the first two rounds at Silverstone and Imola as he prepares for the Le Mans 24 Hours After the FIA decided that motorsport only needed one Formula 3 Championship, the once European Formula 3 Championship (now FIA Formula 3) has grown in size with over thirty cars last season. Luckily due to new regulations, this number has decreased and twenty one cars will make the start at Paul Ricard this weekend. This should hopefully put an end to the crashfest we have been used to over the previous years with Lance Stroll's huge crash at Monza coming to mind as well as the one he caused at Spa a couple of weeks later.
