The BRDC have decided that Silverstone is no longer up for sale The owners of Silverstone, British Racing Drivers Club, has decided that the iconic venue is no longer for sale. Over the past months the BRDC has been in talks with potential investors which have included Jaguar Land Rover and Motorsport Vision, who pulled out after taking over Donington Park. The search for investors has been down to raising funds to continue to host the British Grand Prix as the cost of hosting the F1 race has been increasing year on year. However due to Liberty Media's takeover of F1, BRDC has decided to take its own path to secure the British Grand Prix's future at Silverstone. Silverstone is arguably the heart of British Motorsport and therefore it is right for the BRDC to continue to host the F1 Grand Prix there. While this is not without risk, we feel sufficient confidence in the improved prospects for our business to justify this change of direction" The decision not to sell the circuit means that several decisions behind the scenes which had been put on hold while talks with investors went on will now take place. This includes removing the Club Secretary Role and introducing a New Voluntary Club Ambassador. Photo Source: f1weekends.com
